Friday in Bibb County

Fellow ABC 33/40 Skywatcher Clay Barnett who is interning at ABC 33/40 shared this story with me of his experience Friday with Meteorologist Brian Peters.

"One interesting thing happened when we navigated ourselves to the south end of what we thought was a severe thunderstorm, and was warned as such. We lost cell/internet service since we were deep in Bibb County, just SW of West Blocton. We got parked, and soon, horizontal rain began coming from behind us, and the van began rocking. 10 seconds later, the wind was blowing just as hard from the other direction! Talk about scary! Brian said it was the mesocyclone going right over us, and estimated about 40 MPH winds in each direction. It was impressive!!"

Here are a couple of his photos from a bow echo they saw later in the day.
