Lowest So Far

The low this morning (10/24) here in Vinemont was 35 and I see no frost as I look out my window, but I havent gone out in the cold and "inspected". Obviously it couldn't have been much frost, if any at all.

Yesterday's low was 32.1, the lowest so far this season.

On the Tennessee River

Here are a few photos I took Saturday at about 1:30 as I was travelling from Decatur to Huntsville. I was crossing over the Tennessee River on US 31 North. These photos are looking to the northeast from the bridge. The trees around the river are gorgeous this year.

Rain!

I have had 3.05" of rain in Vinemont since it began yesterday. About 2 1/3" fell since 11:00 last night. This was mostly a steady rain that was badly needed since the last few weeks have been so dry. Maybe this rain will enhance the fall foliage colors.

Winter Preview

Last night the temperature dropped to 33.6 in Vinemont. This was the coldest morning so far this season. In fact it was our first morning below 30. Snow was reported all over the upper Midwest and Buffalo reported over two feet. It was unusual, not only because it was this early in the season, but it was a heavy wet snow that was accompanied by thunder and lightning. It was the snowiest October day in Buffalo since weather records have been kept dating back to 1870. Wind gusts were reported over 50 mph and the barometric pressure was 28.80. Global cooling?
