THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR
PORTIONS OF
NORTHWEST ALABAMA
SOUTH CENTRAL INTO SOUTHEAST KENTUCKY

MIDDLE TENNESSEE

EFFECTIVE THIS FRIDAY AFTERNOON FROM 1225 PM UNTIL 500 PM CDT.


TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS

TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 65 STATUTE

MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 40 MILES SOUTHWEST OF MUSCLE

SHOALS ALABAMA TO 50 MILES WEST NORTHWEST OF LONDON KENTUCKY.

AND ASSOCIATED SWLY LLJ. WIND DAMAGE WILL LIKELY BE PRIMARY THREAT

WITH THIS ACTIVITY...ALTHOUGH VERY STRONG SHEAR SHOULD SUPPORT

ISOLATED TORNADO POTENTIAL AS WELL.

AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL

SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1 INCH. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND

GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 400.
