6 p.m. - Baton Rouge…steady rain, wind east 39, gusts 58


AT 505 PM CDT…PARISH EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND LOCAL LEVEE
OFFICIALS REPORTED OVERTOPPING OF A PARISH MAINTAINED LEVEE NEAR
BRAITHEWAITE ON THE EAST BANK OF PLAQUEMINES PARISH. THE OVERTOPPING
OF THIS LEVEE WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF HOMES IN THE BRAITHEWAITE PARK
AREA. PARISH OFFICIALS HAVE ISSUED EVACUATION ORDERS FOR THAT AREA.

5 p.m. - Alexandria has NNE winds at 23 gusting to 50 mph. Lafayette is no longer reporting. Fort Polk has NNW at 24 gusting to 45 mph.

4:25 p.m. - Skywatcher Philip Johnson gave us a heads up that a major levee at Braithwiate in Plaquemines Parish in Louisiana is about to break. This is across the river from Belle Chasse, just south of New Orleans. 200 homes are in danger.

4 p.m. - Baton Rouge…east wind 43 mph G 65 mph…barometer 29.07…peak gust 82 mph…pressure now rising rapidly.

3 p.m. - Lafayette LA has had gusts to full hurricane force in the past 30 minutes…NNW 41 kts (46 mph) gusting to 65 kts (75 mph.) Latest barometer down to 28.76 and still falling rapidly…1.14 inches of rain in the past hour.

2 p.m. - Acadiana Regional Airport in New Iberia has also had full hurricane force gusts…
NNW at 49 mph gusting to 74 mph at 18:53z (1:53 p.m. CDT). Barometer down to 28.76 inches in last observation.
