Concerns increasing about Dolly

Tropical storm Dolly is passing over the Yucatan peninsula and is headed for the very warm waters of the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. As of 4 a.m. Central Time today, maximum sustained winds were 50 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service Tropical Prediction Center expects Dolly to become a hurricane by tomorrow afternoon. Their projected track has Dolly making landfall around south Texas or northeastern Mexico overnight on Wednesday.

I am very concerned that this storm may strengthen rapidly once it passes over the warm Gulf waters and that it might pose a major threat to the area around Brownsville, Texas.

Stay tuned.
