Major Tornado Outbreak Underway!

…MAJOR SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK IN PROGRESS ACROSS THE MID SOUTH…

THE MID SOUTH IS THE MIDST OF A MAJOR SEVERE WEATHER OUTBREAK.
ROTATING SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORMS HAVE PRODUCED TORNADOES IN THE
MEMPHIS METROPOLITAN AREA…JACKSON…NEAR OXFORD…AND MCNAIRY
AND SAINT FRANCIS COUNTIES.

THE MEMPHIS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SUSTAINED DAMAGE AS WELL AS THE
HICKORY RIDGE MALL. IN JACKSON…THERE ARE REPORTS OF COLLAPSED
ROOFS IN TWO WOMEN/S DORMITORIES AT UNION UNIVERSITY WITH PEOPLE
TRAPPED. SO FAR…THERE HAS ONLY BEEN ONE CONFIRMED INJURY REPORT
NEAR OXFORD.

A COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE MID SOUTH THROUGH EARLY
WEDNESDAY MORNING. THERE HAVE BEEN REPORTS OF TORNADOES…
LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS WITH THE PASSAGE OF THIS FRONT.

WMC-TV- Jackson Hospital is moving patients to the basement to make room for 15-20 students from the Dorm that was hit at the college.
Also transporting some of the injured to Memphis Med...

KJMT radio dj says people are stranded in cars with power lines on top of them. Requesting volunteers with chainsaws and port. lights. Also requesting a ban on cells... as that's the communication they have into town. Gassville is closed off by AR State Troopers. This from Baxter Co. Sherriff and State Patrol.


From Jackson, TN
Jackson [Madison Co, TN] emergency mngr reports TORNADO at 07:15 PM CST -- people trapped in water commons building at union university...overturned vehicles between mile marker 68 and 76...damage in the vincinity of mile marker 79 and hwy 412...damage at the regional hospital at channing way drive...damage at northside high school and in the oak hill area.



Tornado has hit the Union University area in Jackson per ST. That area is very densely populated.

Edit: It has hit a dorm on campus, no injuries reported yet per WBBJ in Jackson
Also lots of damage of around the Northside High School area

THIS IS A TORNADO EMERGENCY FOR THE CITY OF JACKSON IN MADISON COUNTY... AT 704 PM CST...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR AND STORM SPOTTERS WERE TRACKING A LARGE AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TORNADO. THIS TORNADO WAS LOCATED NEAR NORTH HIGHLAND AND UNIVERSITY ROADS IN JACKSON...MOVING NORTHEAST AT 50 MPH.
