I drove through this mess...

As I was driving north from Montgomery I ran into this severe thunderstorm Friday afternoon in Chilton county. At 3:12 I called in a report to the NWS Birmingham of a tree down on I-65 near the 216 mile marker. I saw an amazing display of cloud to ground lightning, high winds, and torrential downpours. I was in a wet microburst. I tried to call my report in a few minutes earlier but cell phone sevice is not very good in Chilton County (apologies to my college friends from there).

hope you're doing well Mike!

Unfortunately I was not in a good position to take any photos, though. It was a nasty storm. Thanks for asking. I'm doing fine. Looking forward to next Saturday's Alabama game!

COREPUNCH!! Glad to see you made it through ok!

Not in a good position to photograph a storm? What? What does that mean? This is coming from the guys who photographed his thermometer reading driving 50 something mph down the road?

Great points Dew but there are a few extra factors to consider in my own defense! My camera’s battery cover is broken and I have to re-tape it periodically. I couldn’t do that in the middle of 50 mph winds, cloud to ground lightning, punching the core (as Rick said!), etc. Besides, the other time when it was 106 degrees at least it was sunny, no rain, the XL7 was on cruise control, and very little traffic. Maybe you'll give me a pass on this one!!!

OK, ok, I'll let it slide this time, but we mustn't let this happen again.

Yes ma'am!

You should try living in the same state with her....Sheeesh, she is tough!

Mike said...

Rick, I feel your pain!

Dewdrop said...

Hey now... We're not suggesting a mutiny, are we? ;-)

Mike said...

No, we are your devoted fans!

Rick said...

Oh Mike! Please dont encourage her!!

Mike said...

All right Rick. You must know something that I don't, because I have been encouraging her a lot. Maybe I'd better stop?

How are 'bama fans feeling about the Saban era??? I'm sure they are very excited!

Excited is an understatement! People are as excited as I have ever seen them. When 2 tickets fot the Western Carolina game are going for over $100....

My boys and I cannot wait for Saturday. We'll be tailgating and going to the game.

What is a Catamount (WC nickname), anyway?

ROLL TIDE!! Roads arent getting paved in Alabama to make sure we can pay our new head coach. He better produce right out of the gate!

Mike said...

Rick, he is only paid with revenue generated by the football program/athletic department. And actually his salary is a very small percentage of the entire budget. I don't expect miracles right away, but look out in a few years.

Dewdrop said...

I can't comment on the football junk, but I would have to say there is no need to stop encouraging me... ;-D

Mike said...

Two comments from North Alabama...

Football isn't junk...

Dewvoid and Rickmeister have differing opinions on Devoids need for encouragement or lack thereof /
