Hot, dry days of summer continue

My son David took this picture in our yard yesterday. We really need rain as the extreme drought conditions persist. High temperatures will back off slightly today and much of this week as moisture levels increase due to a more southerly flow. I expect highs mostly in the low to mid 90's across Alabama today. With higher humidities it might actually feel less comfortable than yesterday when many locations reached the upper 90's. Pinson, near Birmingham, reached 100 degrees yesterday. The good news is that increasing dewpoints will bring chances of isolated afternoon thundershowers back into the picture.
