Tornado Watch

A few moments ago the SPC issued a tornado watch for much of central and northern Alabama and eastern Mississippi until 8 p.m.

Discussion from the SPC:

COLD FRONT NOW MOVING INTO NWRN AL/CENTRAL MS. THIS WILL ALLOW EXPANDING AREA OF MARGINAL TO MODERATE INSTABILITY TO DEVELOP OVER THE REGION INTO THE EVENING. LOW AND DEEP LAYER SHEAR WILL ALSO REMAIN QUITE STRONG. THIS WILL INCREASE THE POTENTIAL FOR SUPERCELLS AND SMALL LINE SEGMENTS. ALONG WITH LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS...A FEW TORNADOES MAY ALSO OCCUR WITH THE STRONGER STORMS.
