Records fall Easter Morning

The low in Vinemont this morning was 26.6 (slightly warmer than yesterday). To our south, clouds may have helped keep temperatures up a little bit. Maybe the Chilton County peach crop will survive.

THIS MORNING...THE LOW SO FAR AT HUNTSVILLE WAS 26 DEGREES
AT 631 AM CDT. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 28 DEGREES...
SET ON THIS DATE IN 1958. THIS MARKS THE FIRST TIME ON
RECORD THAT THE LOW HAS BEEN THIS COLD FOR TWO DAYS IN A
ROW IN APRIL. IN FACT...IT IS THE FIRST TIME WE HAVE SEEN
LOWS OF 26 DEGREES OR COLDER ON CONSECUTIVE DAYS IN MARCH
OR APRIL SINCE 2002.

1939. IT HAS ONLY BEEN THIS COLD OR COLDER THIS LATE IN
THE SEASON TWICE BEFORE...ON APRIL 13TH 1940...AND APRIL
14TH 1907.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON...THE HIGH AT MUSCLE SHOALS REACHED
JUST 46 DEGREES AT 528 PM CDT. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD

PINSON THIS MORNING...THE 8TH OF APRIL. THE PREVIOUS LOW
WAS 27 DEGREES FIRST SET BACK IN 1958...THEN TIED AGAIN
IN 1990.
